Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day scheduling of transportation vehicles in the Shoppa's transportation department. Ensure a culture of safety, proper truck maintenance, high customer service standards, cost-effective and efficient loads, and DOT compliance.

Essential Functions:

1. Assist in coordinating efficient loads, prioritizing around customer urgency, truck type, geographic considerations, etc. Dispatch drivers and confirm delivery schedules. Minimize driver downtime between loads.
2. Communicate daily with branch transportation members for seamless delivery execution.
3. File timely reports for delays, incidents, or accidents in the Transportation Department.
4. Maintain DOT compliance files, track mileage by state, and create reports for accounting on IFTA.
5. Implement procedures to ensure consistent and professional customer service from the Transportation Department.
6. Manage administrative processes, monitor billing activity, and escalate issues as needed.
7. Source outside vendors to supplement deliveries during heavy sales periods and monitor related costs.
8. Resolve customer issues primarily through phone and email communication.

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years' experience in dispatching/coordinating transportation in a multi-site, multi-truck environment preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT/FMSCA and related government requirements is a plus.
• Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude, professional appearance, and team-oriented mindset required.
• Solid computer skills; experience with MS Access and Excel highly desirable.

Physical Demands:

Sitting, standing, and walking (up to continuously); frequent computer and telephone use requiring repetitive finger, hand, and arm movements; occasional lifting of office supplies and miscellaneous items up to 50 pounds. Continuous use of sight, hearing, and verbal communication.
