Transportation Construction Manager / Resident Engineer

Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. is seeking a full-time Transportation Construction Manager / Resident Engineer to work on upcoming projects in the Harrisburg, PA area. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high‑profile and challenging projects for professional growth and development.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, reviewing project schedule, deliverables and estimated costs in depth.
  • Assign and coordinate field inspection staff.

  • Resolve any issues that arise from unforeseen conditions.
  • Ensure project documentation is completed and submitted as required, and complete necessary project close‑out.
  • Interpret drawings and documents, and prepare work order documents.
  • Follow project safety protocol.
  • Perform all related duties as required to ensure successful completion of assigned projects.
Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of PennDOT inspection or related highway construction experience and a High-alone Diploma/equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer License in Pennsylvania, or NICET Level IV in Highway Construction, or PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, and NICET Level III Certification, or any other acceptable combination of qualifications that meets client requirements.
  • Proficient understanding and ability to interpret written specifications, plans, and construction documents.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, supervisors, and inspectors.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to complete required safety training within a reasonable period of time.
  • Valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to project sites.
Physical Requirements
  • Assume a stationary position, handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job.
  • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using company email and telephone systems.
  • Move around the job site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and position oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods of time.
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. as part of monitoring and inspections.
  • Maintain good visual skills, including focused depth perception.
  • Regularly operate a motor‑vehicle or use public transportation, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.

Employees may also be required to undergo substance‑abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, U.S. DOT regulations, and/or company policy.
