Overview

Tectonic is seeking a full‑time Transportation Construction Manager / Resident Engineer to manage high‑profile projects in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh areas. The role offers professional growth and development on challenging construction projects.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, reviewing schedules, deliverables, and cost estimates in depth.
  • Assign and coordinate field inspection staff.
  • Monitor onsite and offsite construction activities and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Resolve issues arising from unforeseen conditions.
  • Ensure complete project documentation and conduct necessary project close‑out.
  • Interpret drawings and documents, and prepare work order documents.
  • Follow project safety protocols.
  • Perform all related duties required for successful project completion.
Qualifications
  • Must possess at least one of the following AND a High School Diploma or equivalent:
    • 10 years of PennDOT inspection or related highway construction experience and
      • Professional Engineer License in Pennsylvania;
      • NICET Level IV in Highway Construction; or
      • PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification; or
      • NECEPT Field Technician Certification; or
      • NICET Level III Certification; or
      • Any other acceptable combination of qualifications meeting client requirements.
  • Proficient understanding and ability to interpret written specifications, plans, and construction documents.
  • Effective communication with clients, supervisors, and inspectors.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to complete required safety training within a reasonable period.
  • Valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel to project sites.
Physical Requirements
  • Assume a stationary position; handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials, and equipment.
  • Communicate via email and telephone systems.
  • Move around job‑site, including ascending or descending landscape or ladder, for prolonged periods.
  • Lift or move up to 10 lbs. for monitoring and inspections.
  • Maintain good visual skills, including focused depth perception.
  • Operate a motor vehicle or use public transportation with possible stationary periods.
