Job description

MEC is looking for full-time Transportation Construction Inspectors (TCI-1 or higher) with experience working on heavy highway, bridge, airport runways, taxiways, and other transportation construction projects. The positions will be located within the western PA area.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of procedures and techniques used in highway and bridge inspection.
2. Knowledge of procedures and techniques used in performing tests on construction materials.
3. Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in the collection and evaluation of technical data.
4. Ability to read and interpret construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications.
5. Ability to perform required cost estimating, computations, and calculations.
6. Ability to work independently and make technical decisions.
7. Ability to collaborate in a team environment to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
8. Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
9. Proficiency in MS Office (Word & Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and cloud-based systems such as Box and iPads.
10. Must be physically capable of field work and possess a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Experience:

1. Three (3) years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience, or at least one year as a PennDOT TCI-1 or higher, OR
2. Associate’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering.

Certifications (must have at least one):

1. PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification
2. NECEPT Field Technician Certification
3. NICET Level II Certification or higher in Highway Construction
