Job summary

CDR Maguire Inc. seeks a Transportation Construction Inspector for the I-83 River Bridge project in York County, PA, to support a February 2027 opening. You will liaise with contractors, engineers, and supervisors, prepare daily reports, and ensure compliance with plans, safety plans, and contract documents.

Strong communication and documentation skills are essential. The role requires field verification, ability to read plans, and familiarity with QC/QA processes; OSHA 10-Hour and ECMS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; reading, writing and math basics needed.
• BS Civil Engineering preferred for this role.
• Certifications in concrete field tech and PennDOT/CDS are required or preferred.
• ECMS experience is desirable.
• OSHA 10-Hour certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Consult with contractors, engineers, and job superintendents on plans and methods.

Job description

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector for the I-83 River Bridge project in York County for a February 2027 opening.

The Transportation Construction Inspector is responsible for consulting with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others in matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and the methods, practices and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work. The TCI prepares daily progress reports and maintains progress schedules; checks shop drawings and contractors’ quotations for variations; keeps records of quantities and cost of materials used; prepares contractors’ periodic progress payment claims and recommends payment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.
• Ensure compliance with the contractor’s health and safety plan.
• Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents.
• Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy.
• Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire’s and Owner’s requirements.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Follow and convey instructions.
• Utilize computers and common office equipment.
• Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.
• React to hazardous warnings and signals.
• Infrequently perform manual labor.
• Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions.
• Limited exposure to chemicals.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Travel as required and as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.
• Provide positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.
• Other duties which may be required which are commensurate with the position.

High school diploma, GED, or post secondary education and can read, write, and communicate in English and do basic math computations for length, area, and volume.
