Job Description:

Mackin Engineers & Consultants seeks an experienced Transportation Construction Inspector 2 (TCI-2) for our Pittsburgh, PA office. The TCI-2 will ensure the successful completion of roadway and bridge construction projects through expert inspection and quality assurance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction inspection, with attention to detail and a dedication to high standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct detailed roadway and bridge construction inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, plans, and contracts.
2. Supervise and mentor junior inspectors, guiding them for accurate and efficient inspections.
3. Review construction documents, including plans, specifications, and contracts, to understand project requirements.
4. Monitor contractor activities, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions.
5. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to address challenges and ensure project success.
6. Perform quality control checks on materials and workmanship, ensuring adherence to standards.
7. Document inspection findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions in detailed reports.
8. Communicate effectively with contractors, project teams, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues.
9. Assist in preparing progress reports, change orders, and other documentation.
10. Participate in meetings, site visits, and discussions to support project coordination.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in construction inspection, especially roadway and bridge inspection.
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field (preferred but not required).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality assurance.
• Understanding of construction contracts, plans, specifications, and standards.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior inspectors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Deltek Ajera, Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with computers, printers, and electronics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
