Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year PennDOT experience or 2 years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience.
• Alternatively, 4 years of highway or bridge construction or related experience with completion of 12 TCI training modules.
• Effective communication and basic math skills required.

Job Title: Transportation Construction Inspector

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for projects around the Clearfield/State College area for the upcoming construction season in 2025.

Essential Functions:

1. Ensure compliance with contract documents by the contractor.
2. Consult with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, methods, practices, and safety precautions in construction and installation.
3. Prepare daily progress reports and maintain progress schedules.
4. Check shop drawings and contractors' quotations for variations.
5. Maintain records of quantities and costs of materials used.
6. Prepare contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommend payments.

Other Principal Duties:

1. Travel as required related to duties or as directed by supervisor.
2. Maintain a positive attitude to foster competence and pride in the company.
3. Perform other duties as required, consistent with the position.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Effective reading, writing, communication in English, and basic math skills.
3. Minimum of 1 year PennDOT experience or 2 years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience.
4. Alternatively, 4 years of highway or bridge construction or related experience, with successful completion of 12 web-based TCI training modules, can substitute for other experience.
5. A Civil Engineering or Construction degree can substitute for experience.
6. Bachelor's degree in a non-Civil Engineering field, with completion of the 12 TCI modules, can substitute for experience.

Preferred Certifications:

• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Technician Certification
• PennDOT/PTC CDS Certification
• ECMS experience
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification
