In this position, you will perform a variety of technical tasks related to the inspection of materials and workmanship for bridge and construction projects within Engineering District 3-0, ensuring compliance with established construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications. Your duties will encompass prioritizing and organizing scheduled field audits, conducting interim audits of ongoing construction projects, and performing final audits of completed projects.
You will also be responsible for documenting both your own activities and those of contractors within the Engineering and Construction Management System, ensuring that computations are accurately reflected as necessary. You will be tasked with verifying that work zone traffic control signs and devices are correctly positioned and maintained in line with the Work Zone Traffic Control Plan and Publication 213. Additionally, you will review contract plans, specifications, and special provisions, providing clear explanations of contract requirements to contract personnel and other inquirers. It is also essential to communicate any issues involving contractor personnel to department supervisory or management staff, along with the decisions made to address these concerns.
