CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for projects around the Greater Johnstown area for the upcoming full construction season in 2025.

The Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) is responsible for consulting with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others on matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, methods, practices, and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work. The TCI prepares daily progress reports, maintains progress schedules, checks shop drawings and contractors' quotations for variations, keeps records of quantities and costs of materials used, prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims, and recommends payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor
• Ensure compliance with the contractor's health and safety plan
• Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents
• Check contractor's layout and verify accuracy
• Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire's and the Owner's requirements
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Follow and convey instructions accurately
• Utilize computers and common office equipment
• Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Wear required personal protective gear/equipment
• React appropriately to hazardous warnings and signals
• Perform manual labor occasionally
• Work in adverse weather conditions infrequently
• Limited exposure to chemicals

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Travel as required around the Greater Johnstown area related to duties or as directed by the supervisor
• Maintain a positive attitude to foster competence and pride in the company
• Perform other duties as required, consistent with the position

REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education. Ability to read, write, communicate in English, and perform basic math computations related to length, area, and volume.

Preferred certifications include:

• BS in Civil Engineering
• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Technician Certification
• PennDOT/PTC CDS Certification
• ECMS experience
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification
