As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.

Job Description

Michael Baker is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors to join our team in Butler! Under the direct supervision of the Project Supervisor, the Construction Inspector will monitor and document that the roadway and/or bridge project is being built in accordance with the plans and specifications. Responsibilities include:

• Inspect various facets of work on bridge or roadway construction site
• Take field measurements and perform calculations
• Prepare relevant inspection reports
• Verify that appropriate materials and construction processes are being used
• Ensure that construction conforms to the project plans, specifications, and special provisions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Professional Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Valid driver’s license
• 1-4 years of experience in a construction-related field
• Experience with PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects is preferred but not required
• Certifications such as ACI Field Technician, PennDOT Concrete Technician, NICET in Highway Construction, or similar are preferred but not required
• Proficiency with iPad for PennDOT’s ECMS and CDS/NeXtGen systems is preferred
• Basic math skills for computations of length, area, and volume
• Availability for various shifts, including night shifts; overtime may be required
• Overnight travel and seasonal layoffs may be necessary

Compensation

The approximate range is $29/hr to $31.67/hr, depending on experience and certifications. Actual pay depends on education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and location.
