Transportation Construction Inspection Supervisor

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,400 professionals providing engineering, architecture, IT, and related services across the U.S. Currently ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record's Top 500 Design Firms, we are seeking Inspector Supervisors for our Pittsburgh Construction Management Team to support PennDOT projects and other client assignments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
2. Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
3. Measure dimensions and verify the level, alignment, and elevation of structures and pavements to ensure adherence to plans and codes.
4. Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and standards.
5. Manage inspection staff throughout all project phases.
6. Draft project correspondence, facilitate meetings, and resolve field issues on behalf of the client.
7. Maintain record documents and perform field notes and computations.
8. Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to respond to inquiries.

Nonessential Functions

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Computer proficiency.
• Active driver's license and reliable vehicle, with successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (or experience substitution).
• At least 4 years of roadway construction inspection experience.
• Client-requested certifications.

Preferred Experience

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Supervisory experience in construction management or inspection.
• Ability to serve as Owner's Agent or Responsible in Charge.

Working Conditions
