• Status Tracking & Stakeholder Support: Monitors lifecycle of equipment and updates customers on delays.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Transportation Assistant to join our team. You will manage and optimize multi-mode freight shipments by analyzing carrier speeds, urgency, and costs while ensuring strict compliance with DoD transportation regulations. Additionally, you will leverage government logistics systems to maintain accurate shipping documentation, resolve complex transit discrepancies, and proactively communicate equipment and delivery statuses to stakeholders. This position is in Barstow, CA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Shipment Routing & Execution: Initiates freight releases, generates multi-mode vehicle load orders, and strategically selects carriers based on shipment urgency, strict delivery timelines, and optimal economical rates.


• Regulatory Compliance & Best Value: Ensures all routing decisions and specialized shipments strictly adhere to Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR) Part II, DoD guidelines, and Service Headquarter Traffic Management Policies utilizing best value principles.


• Documentation & Systems Management: Leverages Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other government data platforms to audit automated shipping documents, conduct extensive research, and reconcile invalid or incomplete transit records.


• Status Tracking & Stakeholder Support: Monitors the end-to-end lifecycle of equipment to ensure timely loading and dispatch, generates daily operational reports, and proactively updates customers regarding delivery delays, shortages, and service availability.

Required Qualifications:

• Successfully complete OSHA compliance training and Hazardous Materials Preparer Certification IAW Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR) Part II, Cargo Movement, Chapter 204-7, Training, DLAR 4145.3 Preparing Hazardous Material for Military Air Shipment, and DLAI 1307 Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Training for Packaging and Transportation Personnel Process Guidance prior to the beginning of full

Preferred Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in a related field of study


• Any related certifications

Clearance Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen


• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance


• A current Secret clearance is highly desired.
