Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Telecommunications Consultant SG7 to support transport network operations on-site across multiple U.S. locations. The role includes installation, configuration, and performance analysis of fiber, microwave, and P.25 systems, with rotation on 24x7 on-call coverage and documentation upkeep in ServiceNow.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's (or applicable Associate's with experience) and a valid driver's license. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field.
• Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant work experience or HS diploma with 4 years of experience.
• Valid Driver's License required and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Support transport network systems including fiber, microwave, and P.25 radio.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call coverage with a rotating schedule.
• Break/fix support and field change coordination for network deployments.
• Follow change management procedures and document changes in systems.
• Maintain ServiceNow assets, monitoring, and project task scheduling.
