Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Telecommunications Consultant SG7 to support enterprise transport operations. The role covers installation, configuration and performance analysis of fiber optic, microwave and P.25 radio systems, with emphasis on operation and maintenance of transport networks.

The ideal candidate has a technical degree or equivalent experience, and will participate in a rotating on-call schedule, with travel to multiple on-site locations including New Albany, OH and Fort

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study.
• Or Associate’s degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Or HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Support AEP Fiber Optic, Microwave and P.25 800Mhz radio systems (Transport Systems).
• Shared 24x7x365 on-call with 6 other engineers
• Break/Fix support of AEP Transport network systems
• Remotely support project-based field change control work associated with deploying Fiber Optic, Microwave and P.25 radio systems
• Follow the AEP change management process and AEP standard for changing any configuration in the network including peer reviews on field transport impacting changes
• Documentation upkeep – ServiceNow Asset, Monitoring Systems, Process Docs, Timekeeping, Goal Performance, Status Reporting, Change Control
• Project Task and time scheduling management/meetings
