Transport Engineer - Naval Engineer

Responsibilities
- Coordination and management of specific freight moves across all modes of transport including air, sea, road and rail in line with current or future capital projects
- Specific routing/coordination of challenging; OOG, Heavy Lift, Barge, Rail and Break Bulk moves across major capital projects
- Develop Method Statements; working closely with both commercial and operational stakeholders, outlining client/movement specific plans to ensure full peace of mind for the client
- Operational attendance for project execution (i.e. vessel attendance, road transport, barge operations, site installation, etc.)
- Coordinate efforts with internal and external stakeholders
- Closely work with additional sub‑contractor in order to follow proper operational procedures previously planned in developed Method Statements
- Develop CAD drawings for all phases of the transport life of cargo accompanied by correspondent calculations, (i.e. transport solutions, lifting plans, stowage plans)
- Perform engineering calculations to support transport designs and methods
- Review and develop stability calculation for ocean and inland voyages for project cargo. Review and develop deck strength calculation.
- Review of infrastructure/capabilities at port, road, ship, rail, and project site
- Coordinate effort with internal stakeholders offering a clear and succinct technical solution to each client new or existing
- Executing Route Surveys, considering infrastructure, size and weight of cargo and DOT regulations
- Troubleshooting/Management of material movement issues during transit, including liaison with local authority and client
- Coordination and cooperation with global team of engineers to provide a door-to-door engineering solution
- Conduct engineering assessments for the multimodal transport of project cargo, including over-dimensional and overweight loads
- Perform feasibility studies and route analyses for Out-Of-Gauge (OOG) cargo across road, rail, maritime, and inland waterway networks
- Develop structural and stability analysis for vessels and barges transporting super loads, ensuring compliance within international standards (e.g., DNV, ABS)
- Coordinate with technical teams, clients, and vendors to validate lifting, securing, and transport plans using AutoCAD, Optimoor, specialized lifting software, and both internally and self-developed tools
- Support gantry and skid system calculations, rigging design, and transport frame verifications in accordance with project specific and international engineering standards. Participate in on-site operations across various scopes of work, serving as field engineer, operations supervisor, or Marine Warranty Surveyor representative depending on the client and contractual role
- Join kick-off meetings and technical alignment sessions for multidisciplinary projects involving key project stakeholders
- Assessment on engineering and design details for tailor-made multimodal transport solutions for superheavy and oversized cargo projects
- Actively participate in the assembly and commissioning of different equipment when required, along side subcontractors, serving as field engineer
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders when required
- Act as barge master for critical roll-on/roll-off (RO/RO) operations, developing and executing detailed ballasting plans and coordinating maneuvers with barge crew and OTR transport teams
- Collaborate in the development of tailor-made software and digital tools by working closely with multidisciplinary teams across the company to address specific operational and strategic needs. Approximately 50% work in various unanticipated project sites (can be both domestic and international)
Qualifications
- Requires Bachelors in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2 years experience in the job offered, or related
- 2 years must include experience with (1) Hydrostatic and stability; (2) RORO operations and ballasting calculations; (3) Motion analysis; (4) Modular Hydraulic Platform Trailers; (5) Operational experience with installation system (i.e. skidding systems, gantry cranes); (6) AutoCAD; (7) Optimoor; (8) Microsoft Excel, Microsoft 365; and (9) Vdeck and tailormade seafastening software. 1 year must include experience with (1) Finite Element Analysis; (2) Mooring analysis; (3) Software development, Phyton, MS Visual Basic; (4) GHS and stability softwares; (5) BaseCamp and GIS data analysis softwares; (6) Crane Planer 2.0 and Liccon; and (7) Easyload software for Goldhofer equipment
