Job summary

Alabama Power is seeking a Power System Coordinator (Transmission System Operator) to oversee the integrity of the transmission system, make critical decisions on operations, and ensure safe, reliable bulk power delivery. You will lead field teams, monitor transmission networks, assess situations, and coordinate generation and hydro resources.

Applicants should have an ABET-accredited engineering degree or equivalent, with transmission ops experience and NERC CIP certification readiness.

Qualifications

ABET accredited engineering degree or technical certificate/associate’s degree or extensive transmission ops experience.
NERC CIP awareness or certification within one year of hire.
Ability to operate under stressful conditions and meet shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

Manage and direct field employees in performing switching operations.
Monitor and operate the Network Transmission/Sub Transmission systems and other transmission lines and facilities.
Assess operating situations and coordinate resources accordingly.
Coordinate generation resources and operate hydro resources.
