Irby Construction Company, a longtime player in power infrastructure, is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer (Transmission) to support project managers and field leadership across high-voltage transmission construction in the West Region. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Entry-level role; prior utility construction experience not required.
• Strong interest in electric utility construction and project management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and technical docs.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers, Superintendents, General Foremen and project teams with day-to-day coordination of transmission construction projects.
• Support pre-construction activities including review of drawings, specs, bid documents, contracts, schedules and scope.
• Help prepare and maintain project schedules, look-ahead plans, progress updates, and milestones.
• Prepare, track and maintain RFIs, submittals, change requests, meeting minutes, action-item logs and other docs.
• Support project cost tracking, budgeting updates, forecasting, and reconciliation under PM direction.
• Assist with material and equipment tracking and procurement coordination.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, subcontractors, vendors, clients and internal teams.
• Participate in pre-construction, progress, safety, and closeout meetings; draft notes and follow up.
• Conduct routine site visits to monitor progress and document field conditions.
• Assist with daily/weekly/monthly reporting on safety, quality, production, schedule and cost.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or related field
