Job summary

PNM is seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer (I-IV) to support the integration of renewable energy resources and the transition to a carbon-free grid in New Mexico.

Qualifications

• Engineer I-IV levels available based on experience (1-7+ years).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred for higher-level roles.
• Experience with high-voltage transmission planning and inverter-based resources.
• Knowledge of NERC CIP cybersecurity standards (background check required).
• Strong problem-solving, leadership, and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct power flow and stability studies (PSS E, PSFL, PSCAD) for renewable energy integration.
• Support the FERC Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) interconnection process.
• Develop transmission system expansion plans to enhance grid reliability.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges related to high-voltage infrastructure.
• Communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC).
