Job summary

AES is seeking a Transmission Planning Analysis Engineer to perform studies for 34.5 kV to 345 kV transmission systems, ensuring reliability and security per FERC 715. The role focuses on power flow, dynamic, and voltage stability analyses using a suite of tools.

You will independently conduct complex assessments, support NERC CIP, FAC, and other standards, and collaborate with regional utilities to evaluate plans and defend against regulatory audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Ability to perform analysis and deliver engineering outputs independently.
• FERC/NERC related knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform NERC TPL-001 transmission planning assessments using steady-state and dynamic power-system techniques.
• Assess System Restoration from Blackstart using transient methods with PSCAD.
• Model and analyze protection and reliability impacts of planned changes per FERC 715.
• Collaborate with utilities and stakeholders to evaluate transmission plans and projects.
• Support regulatory audits by aligning with NERC, FERC, and MISO standards.
