Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a Line Mechanic to assist in installing, maintaining, rearranging, operating, removing and inspecting electrical transmission and distribution facilities. You will drive line trucks and related equipment while following safety rules and company procedures.

This role requires climbing poles, working aloft from bucket trucks, and performing duties under direct or general supervision. Travel is frequent, overtime is expected, and a CDL may be required by probation.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• No previous work experience required; line work experience or line school education preferred.
• Must obtain CDL by end of probation and comply with vehicle operation laws.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing, maintaining, and inspecting transmission/distribution facilities.
• Operate line trucks and related equipment; support crews under supervision.
• Climb poles/structures and work from bucket trucks; ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Maintain records and participate in training; assist higher-classification employees.
