Job summary

AEP Service Corporation in Bluefield, VA is seeking a Transmission Line Mechanic A to install, maintain, and inspect de-energized transmission facilities. You must live within 45 minutes of the Bluefield Service Center and be able to climb poles and operate bucket trucks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED completed.
• No prior work experience required; line work or line school preferred.
• Must be available for overtime, call-out overtime and shift work; significant travel.
• Must obtain a valid commercial driver’s license by end of probation.
• Must pass Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect conductors and fixtures on overhead facilities.
• Operate line trucks and bucket trucks as required.
• Work under direct supervision of a qualified person and follow safety rules.
• Maintain records and report unsafe conditions.
• Attend training and assist in training other employees.
