Job summary

American Electric Power in Indiana is seeking a Transmission Line Mechanic A to join our field crew. You will assist with the installation, maintenance, removal and inspection of underground and overhead facilities, and operate line trucks and related equipment under supervision.

The job involves working on energized conductors up to 260 volts under supervision, progressing to operating digger/derrick and bucket devices after training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Must obtain CDL beginners permit within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the assembly, installation, maintenance, removal and inspection of underground facilities, conductors, fixtures, structures and other equipment on energized or de-energized overhead and underground facilities.
• Perform ground person duties under supervision as required.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and rigging of poles, towers and structures; operate near energized lines under supervision.
