Job summary

American Electric Power Co. is seeking a Transmission Line Mechanic C to join the Texarkana team. Under supervision, you will install, repair, and inspect de-energized transmission and distribution facilities, while following safety rules.

Residency within 30 minutes of Texarkana Service Center is required. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of line work experience, or equivalent training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1 year transmission line experience or related line experience via a power line program certificate plus internship, or an Associate degree with internship.
• Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and maintain safety standards.
• CDL license required. OSHA-based safety training may be expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, maintenance, and inspection of de-energized transmission lines and distribution facilities.
• Assist in live-line work under supervision with proper PPE and procedures.
• Dig holes, set poles, install conductors and shield wires, and test components.
• Maintain tools and work areas in a clean, safe condition.
• Participate in training and mentorship of other staff.
