Job summary

American Electric Power in New Haven, Indiana is seeking a Line Servicer to install, maintain, and repair electrical transmission and distribution facilities. You will respond to trouble calls, work on overhead and underground systems, and coordinate with crews to restore service safely.

Requirements include a High school diploma or GED, at least 2 years as Line Mechanic A, Lineman A or equivalent, a Valid Class A CDL, plus overtime and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience as Line Mechanic A, Lineman A or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• Shall have performed Lineman A or equivalent duties; overtime and on-call; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and take corrective action with respect to trouble calls on all types of transmission and distribution circuits and equipment.
• Investigate trouble calls; patrol and inspect lines; locate, clear and repair faults on lines and equipment.
• Coordinate circuit switching and restoration of service following trouble calls.
• Work with hot line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or routine maintenance.
• Interface with emergency forces to restore service safely.
• Communicate with customers and inform if trouble is in customer wiring or equipment.
• Install, remove, operate and maintain residential, commercial and industrial facilities, both overhead and underground.
• Disconnect and connect meters; read in and read out meters.
• Operate line switches; request and accept line clearances.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
