Job summary

AEP in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Transmission Line Mechanic to install, maintain, repair and inspect energized and de-energized transmission and distribution facilities. You’ll work under supervision, follow safety rules, and assist in live-line work as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL, and at least one year of transmission power line experience or an electrical power line school certificate with internship.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year transmission electrical power line work experience.
• One year electrical power line school certificate plus 16 weeks internship or an associate degree with 16 weeks internship.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all types of installation, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of energized and de-energized transmission/distribution facilities.
• Patrol transmission lines using maps/drawings and follow safety procedures.
• Install, maintain, repair overhead lines; dig holes; set poles/towers; assemble components; perform rigging and climbing maintenance.
