Job summary

AEP Texas Company, Inc. is seeking a Line Mechanic A to install, maintain, and inspect electrical transmission and distribution facilities, including overhead and underground systems.

The role builds on prior Line Mechanic B skills and requires readiness to work with energised equipment and progress through classifications. The candidate must reside in the service territory, have CDL Class A, and be able to work overtime and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience or related line experience.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Must be able to progress to higher classifications within company timeline.
• Physical abilities assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Test, de-energize and ground URD cable and troubleshoot lines.
• Operate test equipment for voltages up to 600 volts.
• Build and erect equipment mountings and transformer installations.
• Direct the work of assistants and complete monthly apprentice cards.
