Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) in Texas is seeking a Transmission Line Mechanic A to assist in the installation, maintenance and inspection of transmission and distribution facilities. You will drive line trucks, climb poles, and work from bucket trucks under supervision while adhering to safety rules and procedures.

Experience is not required, though line work or line school education is preferred. Must live within 30 miles of the service location and be prepared for heavy travel and overtime as

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• No previous work experience required; line work experience or line school education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect conductors and equipment on overhead facilities.
• Assist in climbing poles, working from bucket trucks, and using live-line tools under supervision.
• Operate line trucks, tractors, trailers and related equipment to move personnel and material.
• Attend training and assist in training other employees; keep work area clean and orderly.
