Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking an Engineer - Transmission to design and support high/medium/low-voltage transmission projects in the Rochester area. You will develop plans, structure drawings, and KMZ files, applying industry standards to ensure safe, reliable grid improvements.

The role emphasizes collaboration with procurement, construction, and operations teams, with opportunities to mentor others and influence project outcomes within Avangrid Networks.

Qualifications

• Formal degree in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering is required.
• Hands-on experience with transmission line design and engineering analysis.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and CAD tools is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support design for transmission line projects across NYSEG territories.
• Develop and review plan & profile drawings, structure drawings, and KMZ files.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (RUS, Avangrid, NESC) and apply engineering judgement.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior staff on complex projects.
