Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking a Principal Engineer for Transmission & Substation Asset Planning. Based in Rochester, NY or Binghamton, NY, you will lead capital projects from conceptual design to execution, ensuring alignment with investment plans and regulatory requirements.

You will guide TSRG reviews, coordinate with regulators and ISO, and provide technical leadership across teams. Strong communication and mentorship are essential for success.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering required.
10+ years of practical experience across T&D/Power systems or related fields.
MBA or Professional Engineering License is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead development of T&S capital projects to Conceptual (IP2) design level for financial approval and handoff to execution.
Oversee TSRG reviews, prepare stakeholder materials, and coordinate with regulators and ISO as needed.
Provide technical oversight, investment governance, and cross‑organization collaboration for long‑term T&S CAPEX planning.
Present findings and recommendations clearly to executives and stakeholders; mentor internal staff and external consultants.
