Job summary

K&A Power Group in Orange, Connecticut seeks a Field Construction Manager to lead on-site transmission projects. You will coordinate electromechanical and civil work, ensure safety and schedule compliance, and maintain thorough project documentation on busy sites nationwide.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management with 10+ years of electric utility experience, especially in transmission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent education with 10 years relevant experience required.
• Ten years of progressive electric utility experience, preferably with transmission facilities construction management.
• Transmission experience is required.
• Article VII experience is preferred.
• Five years’ supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NRA clearances and switching orders is beneficial.
• Detailed experience in electrical utility transmission UV/OV & civil construction.
• Knowledge of GPS and SAP is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings and convey interpretations to contractors.
• Ability to solve construction problems with minimal supervision.
• Computer and administrative skills; strong verbal and written communication.
• Must have US work authorization and valid US driver license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise all on-site construction activities, including electromechanical and civil work.
• Ensure safety, quality, schedule, and cost compliance on projects.
• Monitor progress, maintain documentation, and prepare weekly/monthly reports.
• Conduct site inspections to verify workmanship and adherence to specs.
• Resolve construction issues with engineering, contractors, and suppliers.
• Review contractor invoices, schedules, and change orders; provide recommendations.
• Manage material deliveries and maintain as-built plans.
• Attend safety, environmental, and quality meetings; maintain project binders.
• Communicate regularly with the Project Manager and coordinate with authorities.
• Adhere to CIP/NERC requirements and promote proactive safety culture.
