Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Research Scientist to design experiments and conduct procedures with minimal supervision in the Wake Forest translational neuroscience program. The role involves developing research ideas, planning and executing experiments, and preparing data, protocols, abstracts, and manuscripts for publication and grant applications.

The position requires an MD or PhD (or both) in Proteomics, Biochemistry, Biology, or Bioinformatics, with several years of pre-doctoral research

Qualifications

• MD, PhD or both inProteomics, Biochemistry, Biology, or Bioinformatics required.
• 3 years of relevant pre-doctoral research experience required.
• Experience in cell cultures and biochemical techniques preferred.
• Prior experience in database establishment and scripting languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs cell preparations and cultures; maintains cell lines, treats, harvests, and analyzes cell cultures and/or suitable animal tissues, including human tissues.
• Performs analyses using biochemical techniques.
• Establishes database management system.
• Produces abstracts and manuscripts for publication and presentation at scientific meetings.
• Assists with preparation of grant applications.
• Assists in the development of new methodology in sample preparation, and analysis of samples for molecular and biochemical analyses.
• Instructs and trains other laboratory employees in the use of the laboratory instruments, equipment, and techniques.
• Coordinates with other researchers.
