Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a scientist to design experiments and conduct research procedures within the Wake Forest University Health Sciences – Academic Translational Neuroscience program. The role supports publication and grant preparation and works under minimal supervision with a collaborative team.

Responsibilities include cell culture, biochemical analyses, data management, and contributing to manuscripts.

Qualifications

• MD, PhD or both in Proteomics, Biochemistry, Biology, or Bioinformatics required.
• 3 years of relevant pre-doctoral research experience required.
• Experience in cell cultures and biochemical techniques such as subcellular fractionation, MudPIT, and Western blot preferred.
• Experience in database establishment and scripting languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs cell preparations and cultures; maintains cell lines, treats, harvests, and analyzes cell cultures and tissues.
• Performs analyses using biochemical techniques.
• Establishes database management system.
• Produces abstracts and manuscripts for publication and presentation at scientific meetings.
• Assists with preparation of grant applications.
• Assists in the development of new methodology in sample preparation, and analysis of samples for molecular and biochemical analyses.
• Instructs and trains other laboratory employees in the use of the laboratory instruments, equipment, and techniques.
• Coordinates with other researchers.
