Job summary

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado invites applications for an Entry Laboratory Research Services Professional in the Department of Emergency Medicine. The role conducts translational neuroscience research, including small-animal surgeries and neurobehavioral testing, to support drug discovery and brain injury studies.

The candidate should have neuroscience experience and familiarity with animal handling; molecular, cellular and microscopy skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in neuroscience or related research field.
• Experience with animal handling and surgeries would be advantageous.
• Experience with molecular, cellular and microscopy techniques desirable.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory research activities (70%).
• Perform small animal surgeries and post-operative care.
• Perform molecular, histological and microscopy analyses.
• Perform behavioral assessments.
• Maintain thorough and accurate lab records.
• Manage animal colonies.
• General lab maintenance duties.
• Participate in all lab meetings.
• Assist with processes, procedures and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations; escalate when needed.
• Assay development and troubleshooting (15%).
• Data analysis and management (15%).
• Support analytical testing and sample preparation, preservation and documentation.
