POSITIONS PURPOSE

Concordia University Texas is seeking a Transitions Coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate programs that shape a student’s experience, from their first day on campus to their first steps into a career. Including, but not limited to freshman and transfer orientation, summer bridge, and first-year programming. This position coordinates career readiness efforts, organizing the annual career fair and cultivating employer relationships that lead to internships and jobs for students. Working alongside the Success Center and Student Central, the Coordinator helps systemize the path from orientation to graduation to first job as one continuous, well-supported journey. This advanced administrative role calls for specialized knowledge of transition programming, close collaboration with departments across the university, and direct supervision of student workers and graduate assistants.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Transition and Orientation Programs:
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate first-year and transition programs that address students’ academic, social, and personal needs.
  • Plan and execute orientation for incoming freshman and transfer students, introducing them to campus life, academic expectations, and available resources.
  • Lead interdepartmental planning committees to deliver a seamless orientation experience for students and their families.
Student Engagement and Support:
  • Build community and belonging through organized events, activities, and mentorship programs in collaboration with the Student Life department.
  • Maintain active communication channels that keep students informed about campus resources, events, and opportunities.
Career Readiness and Employer Engagement:
  • Plan and organize the annual career fair, including employer registration, event logistics, and student promotion and attendance.
  • Cultivate and maintain employer relationships that expand internship and job opportunities for students.
  • Serve as the central point of coordination for career-related efforts, connecting students to specialized career support across campus.
Assessment and Reporting
  • Assess the effectiveness of transition and career-readiness programs, tracking student and employer participation.
  • Analyze results to identify areas for improvement and inform future planning.
  • Report outcomes and impact to university administrators.
Collaboration and Supervision:
  • Partner with academic departments, admissions, student services, faculty, and student organizations to deliver a unified experience for students.
  • Build partnerships with local community organizations that expand support for students.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor student workers and graduate assistants.
  • Other duties and functions as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & PRINCIPLES
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of three years in Higher Education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in first-year programs and/or orientation programming.
  • Experience with career fair coordination and/or employer relations preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and program development skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to engage actively and work congruently within the mission of a university aligned with the Christian faith.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard computer and office applications.
  • Ability to articulate and model the Concordia University Texas’ mission, vision, and values

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
