Job summary

The University of Houston-Clear Lake is seeking a Coordinator for Orientation and Connection Programs to lead orientation experiences, support transition outreach, and coordinate student engagement pathways. Description

The Coordinator for Orientation and Connection Programs coordinates and executes orientation, transition, and student connection initiatives designed to support successful onboarding, belonging, and engagement at UHCL. The position leads implementation of orientation experiences, supports transition outreach, coordinates connection programs and student engagement pathways, supervises assigned student staff, and collaborates across campus to enhance student transition and retention outcomes. This role supports assessment and continuous improvement efforts for assigned programs and services.

Duties
  • Coordinates planning, implementation, and evaluation of orientation and transition programs including logistics, communication, scheduling, and student experience delivery.
  • Coordinates student connection initiatives including UHCL F1RST, learning community initiatives, and transition programming that fosters belonging and engagement.
  • Oversees recruitment, training, scheduling, and support of orientation and transition teams and provides day-to-day supervision and development of assigned graduate staff.
  • Supports administration and maintenance of orientation technology systems and onboarding processes including Launchpad and related communications.
  • Serves as a liaison to students and campus partners by identifying resources, making referrals, and promoting pathways to involvement and engagement.
  • Coordinates communication and outreach efforts supporting orientation, transition, and connection initiatives.
  • Supports assessment, reporting, and evaluation activities and utilizes findings to improve programs and services.
  • Collaborates with campus departments and external partners to support transition and engagement initiatives.
  • Supports late night and weekend programming and performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  2. Experience working in a college or University setting in Student Affairs.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Public Administration, or related field.
  2. Experience working with, developing, and implementing student programs and events.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student development theories and transition practices supporting student engagement and success.
  • Skills in event planning, coordination, and program implementation.
  • Knowledge of orientation, student transition, and connection program operations in higher education.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.
  • Knowledge of assessment practices and use of data to support continuous program improvement.
  • Skills in using technology platforms and systems to support student programs and records management.
  • Ability to organize competing priorities, solve problems, and adapt to changing program needs.
  • Skills in student communication, outreach, and engagement strategies.
  • Ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
