Job description

POSITIONS PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the VP of Student Development, the Student Development Coordinator provides administrative, operational, and support to the Department of Student Development which encompasses the areas of Residential Life, Student Conduct, Student Life, and Transitions programming. The Coordinator serves as a key operational partner to the VP of Student Development, supporting a diverse student population by providing back end and front end support.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Divisional Systems & Operations
  • Serve as primary administrator/point-of-contact for division software systems (e.g., housing/conduct platforms, event or case-management tools), including user access, data entry, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and standardize shared operational processes (intake forms, tracking logs, SOPs) across Res Life, Conduct, Transitions, and Student Life so each function operates consistently.
  • Coordinate space and facility logistics requests (room reservations, work orders, key/access requests) on behalf of the division.
Case & Process Coordination
  • Assist with housing operations tasks such as room assignment logistics, occupancy tracking, and check-in/check-out coordination.
  • Route and triage incoming student concerns to the correct functional area (Res Life, Conduct, Transitions, Student Life).
Data, Reporting & Assessment
  • Compile cross-functional data (occupancy, conduct trends, orientation attendance, program participation) into regular reports for division leadership.
  • Support assessment efforts such as surveys, satisfaction data, learning outcomes across Student Development programs.
Communications & Meeting Coordination
  • Own the division's shared calendar and coordinate scheduling for cross-functional meetings and committees.
  • Draft/distribute divisional communications (newsletters, parent/student notices) on behalf of multiple functional areas.
Training, Onboarding & Staffing Support
  • Coordinate onboarding logistics for new student staff (RAs, orientation leaders, conduct hearing officers) such as paperwork, scheduling, training calendars.
  • Support hiring logistics (posting, interview scheduling, reference checks) across the division's student worker and graduate assistant positions.
Emergency & On-Call Support
  • Assist in maintaining on-call/duty schedules and incident documentation across Res Life and Conduct.
  • Serve as a backup point of contact during divisional emergencies or high-volume periods (move-in, orientation, finals).
  • Other duties and functions as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & PRINCIPLES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education or a related field
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in student development.
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to quickly learn a variety of office technologies (MS Office, Banner, Maxient, Navigate 360)
  • Knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends for events and on-call coverage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution, problem solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to make difficult decisions and exercise sound judgement.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, manage projects, and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to show initiative, independence, and productivity within the work environment.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
