Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Transition Specialist to support schools, families, and networks through the high school transfer process. You will identify best-fit options and ensure a cohesive, timely transition from sending to receiving schools.

This full-time exempt role reports to the Chief of Schools in the Office of Network Support and requires a Bachelor's degree plus at least three years of experience working with high school students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with high school students.
• Strong commitment to educational equity and student success.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a student advocate throughout the transfer process, ensuring enrollment and appropriate supports.
• Maintain open, responsive communication with traditional and Options School staff and operators.
• Coordinate Options School transfer process, including reviewing requests within 24 hours and making determinations.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure students are enrolled in best-fit options and receive needed resources.
• Assist in ALOP admission processes and support case planning for transfers.
• Partner with Juvenile Justice, SOAR, and SEL teams to provide individualized supports.
