Job summary

King County Metro Transit is seeking a Transportation Planner III to coordinate construction and trolley impacts for the Electric Trolley Bus System. The role involves cross-agency project management, frequent meetings, and ensuring service remains safe and reliable for riders across Seattle and surrounding areas.

You will work with City partners and contractors, prepare rider alerts, and maintain thorough documentation while promoting equity and sustainability in transit planning.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing and coordinating projects and/or processes.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to prioritize project activities.
  • Experience in Transit Operations, Transportation Planning Construction or project management, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience managing and coordinating competing stakeholders' project and processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with City of Seattle and private contractors to manage projects impacting Metro's Electric Trolley Bus System.
  • Keep internal staff and external departments informed of potential trolley system impacts.
  • Coordinate with Vehicle Maintenance on impacts to vehicle assignments.
  • Prepare rider alerts regarding trolley system impacts.
  • Lead work teams toward objectives and assign tasks within the group.
  • Prepare written recommendations and action plans as needed.
  • Attend weekly Service Impacts staff meetings and respond to inquiries.
  • Maintain detailed records of actions taken for future reference.
