Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a dynamic Transit Project Manager with entrepreneurial drive to develop business opportunities, manage clients, and grow our Rail Engineering division. This role involves planning, designing, and directing all aspects of rail engineering projects within our Rail/Track Engineering team.

We provide comprehensive rail planning, design, and engineering services to Class 1 railroads, short lines, transit agencies, departments of transportation, and other rail clients. Our expertise covers preliminary planning, feasibility studies, final design, and construction inspection, supporting rail freight, intercity passenger rail, commuter rail, and industrial installations.

Our industry experts bring extensive experience in Class 1 and short line freight railroads and provide engineering and design services for commuter and light rail projects.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the success of assigned projects, including planning, quality assurance, meeting deadlines, and managing budgets.
  • Coordinate the work of project staff, which may include engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Assist team members in design decision-making processes.
  • Monitor project costs to ensure delivery within budget, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Serve as client manager within your discipline and market, and support other disciplines as needed.
  • Develop Project Work Plans and Quality Plans in collaboration with the project team and quality reviewers.
  • Prepare proposals detailing scope, assumptions, and budgets.
  • Review invoice charges for accuracy and coordinate billing with the Accounting Department.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports on project progress.
  • Coordinate staff training and professional development initiatives.
  • Represent Colliers Engineering & Design at industry organizations, events, and conferences.
  • Market and promote other company services alongside Rail offerings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Track Design.
  • Experience working with transit agencies is required.
  • Proven experience in business development, client relations, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficiency with Microstation, including InRoads and OpenRoads; AutoCAD experience is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory permitting processes for relevant regions.
  • Professional Engineering license is required; candidates should qualify for licensure.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Compensation ranges from $147,200 to $200,900 annually, depending on qualifications.
