Job summary

MTM, Inc. in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a Safety & Training Manager to lead safety and training programs, ensuring compliance with ADA, FTA, and DOT regulations.

The role involves delivering comprehensive safety training, monitoring audits, and driving a strong safety culture across multiple departments. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years in transit safety management, a relevant degree, and a valid driver’s license, with the ability to manage drug testing compliance and safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of transit/paratransit safety management experience.
• Thorough knowledge of ADA, FTA and DOT safety rules, programs.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug test and DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Manage safety culture across operations, safety and maintenance.
• Oversee Corporate Safety Incentives and programs.
• Implement and support SMS safety plan and initiatives.
• Monitor the FTA’s drug and alcohol DAMIS reporting requirements.
• Lead and support the local safety committee and SMS Ambassador group.
• Deliver safety training (classroom, behind the wheel, mobility management).
• Ensure new hires meet minimum qualifications including background and DMV checks.
• Update safety manuals and policies; respond to audits and incidents.
