Job summary

The Safety Manager at TARC leads and oversees agency-wide safety, security, risk management, emergency preparedness, workers' compensation, and regulatory compliance programs. This role ensures compliance with FTA, OSHA, state, and local regulations while promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.

The position may serve as Acting Director of Safety and Security when needed and supervises staff, supports budgeting, and collaborates on continuous improvement initiatives for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, or closely related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in transportation; safety management and regulatory compliance.
• 2+ years of supervisory/management experience in safety and security.
• Familiarity with OSHA and DOT regulations preferred.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Kentucky/Indiana driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee safety, security, risk management, and emergency preparedness programs.
• Ensure compliance with FTA, OSHA, state and local regulations.
• Oversee safety audits, incidents documentation, and risk management activities.
• Lead loss prevention initiatives and coordinate with law enforcement and security contractors.
• Supervise staff and support budgeting and reporting to leadership.
