Job summary

Hill Country Transit District is seeking a Safety and Training Manager-level supervisor to direct bus operators, ensure safe and timely transit operations, and uphold all policies and funding requirements. The role involves training, performance evaluations, and coordinating maintenance, dispatch, and field activities to maintain service readiness.

The position requires strong leadership, communication, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic transit environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years professional driving experience (preferably in public transportation)
• Ability to learn routes and properly operate transit vehicles
• Ability to handle confidential information and work under pressure
• Excellent communication and coordination with dispatch and maintenance teams

Responsibilities

• Trains, counsels and advises bus operators on rules, policies and procedures; administers corrective action as needed
• Conducts driver performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as required
• Manages daily work schedules, service readiness, and documentation using the HCTD tracking system
• Coordinates with Fleet Maintenance to ensure vehicle defects are repaired
• Oversees field activities for commuter and micro transit buses
• Directs route services and responds to operator information requests
• Monitors routes for delays and issues; reroutes if necessary; responds to accident scenes
• Participates in Accident Review Committee
• Oversees passenger revenue collection and deposit processes
• Prepares reports and coordinates with Director of Administration for corrections
• Performs administrative duties including leave tracking and incident reporting
• Investigates passenger complaints and communicates resolutions
• Provides public information about services and policies
• May operate transit vehicles when needed
• Other duties as assigned
