Job summary

Keolis in Tempe, AZ is seeking an Assistant Safety Manager Maintenance (Business Partner) to support the Safety Management System and drive safety performance across the maintenance organization.

This role ensures policy compliance, conducts audits, and coordinates safety meetings while fostering a just culture and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Certification and transit experience are required, including a TSI TSSP, with emphasis on communication and risk-based decision making.

Qualifications

• Must be a certified Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) TSSP.
• Minimum 3 years progressive transit experience.
• Knowledgeable on Department of Transportation (DOT), ADOT
• Experience developing and implementing Safety Program Plans, SMS, policies, procedures and corrective action.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities

• Support the site implementation of the Safety Management System Plan, comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and tools to enhance compliance with corporate direction in efforts to reduce accidents/injuries in the workplace.
• Monitor compliance with the KTA’s SMS policies and procedures, conducting ongoing safety auditing.
• Ensure all relevant statutory and regulatory safety polices are applied and adhered to.
• Monitor and evaluate the continued effectiveness of risk control strategies.
• Identify and assess new hazards introduced in the workplace.
• Oversee ongoing monitoring and recording of safety performance.
• Contribute to the safety culture through displaying exemplary safety-oriented behaviors.
• Ensure a just culture within the organization where all employees are treated fairly and justly and understand their contribution to the organization’s safety philosophy.
• Plan, schedule and deliver monthly safety meetings.
• Proactively leads safety improvement campaigns systematically in the field.
