Job summary

Chicago Transit Authority is seeking an Occupational Safety Officer to develop and implement health and safety programs across CTA facilities, vehicles, and equipment. You will review working conditions, perform safety audits, and collaborate with departments to promote safe operations and accident prevention.

The role requires evaluating OSHA and CTA regulations, conducting hazard analyses, and leading safety training for field personnel while ensuring regulatory compliance and safe practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license (DL).

Responsibilities

• Conducts inspections and audits of CTA properties to ensure OSHA compliance.
• Inspects facilities to document compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations.
• Identifies hazards and recommends facility/work area improvements.
• Develops and implements safety programs and training for CTA staff.
• Assists in incident investigations and prepares corrective actions.
• Analyzes regulations to ensure CTA compliance with OSHA, IDOT, and FTA rules.
• Performs Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) to identify hazardous conditions and mitigation options.
