Job summary

Montgomery County Government’s Department of Transportation, Transit Services Division, seeks Transit Coordinators to oversee Ride On bus operations across a large county area. Responsibilities include monitoring service, directing Bus Operators, and taking corrective actions to maintain safety, reliability, and on-time performance.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; a valid Class B CDL with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements is required;

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced transit environment.
• Effective problem-solving abilities to manage incidents and service disruptions.
• Excellent communication with Bus Operators, staff, and the riding public.
• Ability to prepare clear, detailed incident and service reports.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and transit‑related systems.

Responsibilities

• Assign buses to Bus Operators and deploy relief personnel to cover open runs.
• Collaborate with Bus Operators to address vehicle condition, delays, and road hazards.
• Investigate crashes, injuries, hazards; document findings for reviews or proceedings.
• Provide direct customer service to riders during incidents or emergencies.
• Conduct on-site safety investigations and prepare detailed reports as needed.
