Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Southern California is seeking a Transit Intern to support project engineering and delivery on transportation projects.

You will work with a team of engineers on detailed design for urban and rural transit projects, and assist in creating and submitting technical reports, specifications, and calculations. The ideal candidate is enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program, can commit to about 20 hours per week on-site, and will receive mentorship from a licensed

In the role of Transit Intern, we'll count on you to:

  • To provide project engineering/project delivery support with a focus on transportation projects and public transportation clients throughout the Southern California Region
  • Work on a team with other project engineers on the detailed design of urban and rural transit projects.
  • Provide assistance with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications and calculations.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

The ideal candidate will commit to working approximately 20 hours per week on-site, working alongside and receiving mentorship from a licensed engineer. This position does not offer remote work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Previous work experience with Metrolink, LA Metro, OCTA, or similar client projects (studies and design)
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
