Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking a Transit Fleet Supervisor I to oversee the maintenance of the transit fleet and supervise the mechanics. You will ensure timely repairs, proper documentation, and adherence to safety standards in a busy urban environment.

Reporting to Transit Fleet Supervisor II, you will order parts, manage work orders, mentor apprentices, and coordinate with vendors to maintain vehicle readiness for daily revenue service.

Qualifications

• Five years of diesel and automotive mechanic experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor staff with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the maintenance staff and oversee fleet repairs.
• Order parts, process paperwork, and pay for bills for repairs and parts.
• Maintain Transit fleet inspections and safety compliance.
• Mentor Mechanic Apprentice and Mechanic I.
• Create and assign job tickets; close tickets when complete.
