Job summary

Ramos Consulting Services, now a part of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Project Engineer (Transit Systems) to oversee TPSS field construction, installation, and commissioning on a transit capital program. The role emphasizes field oversight, contract compliance, and documentation, ensuring safety and quality across multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) acceptable in lieu of PE; Washington PE preferred; out-of-state licenses may be considered.
  • Approximately 7+ years of field/construction experience on traction power / TPSS systems, including oversight, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or Commissioning Engineer on transit or rail systems.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for communications and instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety of Authority and contractor personnel and the traveling public by observing operations and conditions, making recommendations, and taking corrective action.
  • Reviews contractor operations for OSHA compliance and Authority electrical safety requirements including arc flash, lockout/tagout, and energization protocols.
  • Performs field inspections to determine compliance with plans, specifications, and TPSS integration requirements.
  • Witnesses and documents equipment installation, cable terminations, grounding, relay settings verification, and commissioning activities.
  • Documents daily inspection reports, prepares daily progress and commissioning status reports, and maintains contract records.
  • Provides direction to field staff to ensure timely contract records, expenditures, budgets, and work orders.
  • Supports coordination with signals, communications, track, and O&M disciplines to meet commissioning milestones.
  • Assists in contract change orders, drafts claim documentation, and ensures conformance with program documents.
