Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Regional Transit System (RTS) to support the upkeep of transit facilities and equipment. You will perform maintenance on shelters, lights, solar panels, and related amenities, and assist with pumps, motors, and shop equipment.

This role requires adherence to safety standards, ability to follow sketches/diagrams, and the capacity to work outdoors in varying conditions while coordinating with waste contractors and staff.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent and 12 months of laboring experience with tools/equipment used in maintenance, repair, or construction.
• Licenses/ Certifications listed below must be obtained within stated timeframes.
• Knowledge of safety practices and ability to read schedules/diagrams.
• Ability to operate power tools and operate vehicles and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, repairs, and maintains shelters, lights, solar panels, benches, and trash cans.
• Services, repairs, and maintains pumps and motors.
• Repairs and installs shop equipment and hardware on facilities.
• Performs minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and works with waste management practices.
• Operates power saws, drills, cranes, and related equipment.
• Drives and tows vehicles to and from facilities.
• Keeps records and reports work orders.
