Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking an entry-level Community Builder focused on vehicle maintenance for the Regional Transit System (RTS). You will perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on buses under supervision, supporting safe, reliable public transportation.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED and a valid CDL class B with passenger endorsement within a month of hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or equivalent.
• CDL class B with passenger endorsement required within one month of employment.
• Certifications none.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily bus maintenance and refueling, checking and replenishing fluids as per manufacturer specs.
• Repairs and maintains tires and vision-related components.
• Makes field tire service calls.
• Repairs and replaces lights, turn signals, mirrors, fan belts, and water hoses.
• Assists mechanics with general labor and repairs of greater complexity.
• Washes and cleans vehicles and equipment.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance per policy and procedures.
